PhotoBoekKeeper is an app by BoekSolutions that helps you clean up your photo gallery by swiping: keep, trash, or favorite. This policy explains what data the app uses — and, more importantly, what it does not collect.
The short version
PhotoBoekKeeper only processes your photos and videos on your own device. Your photos are never sent to a server, the cloud, or any third party. The app does use internet access for one thing only: showing ads through Google AdMob (see "Advertising" below).
Permissions the app requests, and why
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
Photos and videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO) | To show your gallery and perform swipe actions (keep/trash/favorite/move). |
Internet access (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) | Used only by Google AdMob to serve ads (see "Advertising" below). Never used to send your photos anywhere. |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | For the optional daily reminder to keep sorting. You can turn this off in your device settings. |
Restart device (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | So the daily reminder (if enabled) keeps working after you restart your phone. |
Set wallpaper (SET_WALLPAPER) | Only used if you choose to set a photo as your wallpaper from within the app. |
The app does not request location, contacts, microphone, or camera permissions.
What the app does with your photos
- Photos and videos are read and modified through Android's own MediaStore system (the same system your Gallery app uses) — never through a private copy or upload.
- Deleting always goes through the trash: a photo is first moved to the trash (with Android's own confirmation prompt) and only permanently deleted after a retention period (30 days by default, configurable) — which also requires its own system confirmation.
- Favoriting and moving to another folder are moves within your own gallery, never a copy that ends up somewhere else.
- The app never creates or sends a copy of your photos to BoekSolutions or anyone else.
Subscriptions and purchases
PhotoBoekKeeper offers an optional Plus subscription through Google Play Billing. Payment details (such as your card or payment method information) are handled exclusively by Google — the app itself never sees or stores your payment information. The app only remembers, locally on your device, whether your subscription is active, so Plus features are available instantly even offline. See how Google Play works for how Google itself handles subscription and payment data.
What data the app keeps locally
On your device, the app keeps a small local database file (never sent, never shared) containing:
- which photos you've already reviewed/sorted (so they don't keep reappearing);
- which photos are in the trash and when they expire;
- your sorting streak and session statistics (e.g. "12 days in a row");
- names of folders you've created yourself.
This database contains no photo content, only references and counts. It is explicitly excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup and never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes this file entirely.
Advertising
PhotoBoekKeeper shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and other data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data in AdMob to select and measure ads. This is the only third-party service the app uses, and it never has access to your photos — AdMob only ever sees standard mobile advertising data, the same as in any other ad-supported app.
Third parties, analytics
Other than AdMob (above), PhotoBoekKeeper contains no analytics or tracking software and no third-party crash-reporting services. Your photos are never shared with any third party — AdMob and the app's own code never have access to them.
Children
PhotoBoekKeeper is not directed at children and does not collect personal data from anyone, regardless of age.
Your rights
Because no data is stored outside your own device, there's nothing on a server for us to change or delete — you're always in control, directly in the app (e.g. emptying the trash) or by uninstalling it.
Changes
If this policy changes (for example, because a future version adds a feature that does process data), this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
